I just got a no delivery alarm on my pump (because I didn’t refill the insulin cartridge and ignored the low reservoir alarm… oops!). My blood sugar is 14 mmol/L (about 250 mg/dl) and I have medium ketones. My blood sugar was fine 4 hours earlier. So I have not been high for that long.
I have not been pumping and throwing away the milk when my blood sugar is high, but I am wondering if I should pump and throw away the milk so that my son does not get ketones in the milk. I read that the fast break down of fat (associated with ketoacidosis) can cause higher levels of toxins in the milk. Were any of your given advice about this? Would you pump and throw away milk or just continue feeding as usual?
