I know I'm busy at work when I pull out my meter and test, then forget to look back at the results. Ten or 20 minutes later, I look back and see the strip sitting in the meter, which has shut down.
Wow - the meter takes 5 whole seconds to give me a result, and I am so harried at work that I can't wait for that?!
Time for me to slow it down a little.
I've done that!
Been there, done that. Sometimes I put the blood in the strip then go off to do something else, hoping the meter will tell my pump the value and I could read it off of there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
But it's a good sign that you do that -- you're checking your BG just to be "in the know", not because you're about to eat and need to figure out how much insulin to take.
I've done this too! Better yet, I will test, look at the number and before I can write it in my log or take insulin, my brain is distracted and forgets the number!! So I have to test a 2nd time!
Thanks for the laugh! I’ve done all these things…glad to know I’m not the only nut around here!
