CGM from the start

I’m curious if anyone started using a CGM as soon as they started insulin? I was diagnosed t2 but am looking at a LADA diagnosis and my dr will be starting me on long acting insulin. My biggest worry is getting lows. A CGM sounds like it would be comforting to use. I was on insulin during my last 3 pregnancies and had some scary lows.

Well it would be very hard for you to get the CGM if you want your insurance to pay for it because there has to be enough data showing that you have low blood sugar’s consistently for them to give you a CGM and pay for it and they usually won’t pay for it if you are aware that you are having low blood sugar’s now if your doctor prescribes it and you can pay for it out-of-pocket is a totally different story wish you the best with CGM system

I didn’t have to “prove” that my daughter was experiencing frequent or severe lows or that she was hypo-unaware. Her endo simply indicated this on the forms and we were approved for the Dexcom right away.
