Control and vision changes

For the last 6 weeks I have made a complete turn around with my diabetes control. (T-2, humalog, symlin, lantus and metformin) My last A1C was 8.8 that was an eye opener. The next day I started to record everything I ate, kept a log of my sugars etc. SO, about 2 weeks ago I started to have bad headaches and trouble with blurry vision. Went to the eye doc. My perscription has changed for the better. Has anyone had their vision change for the better with good control? Oh and no trace of diabetic ey problem!

Yes. Very much so. Three years ago I underwent seven, yep seven rounds of laser eye surgery. Been back a few times since. In October 2011, I went in and found out that not only did the bleeding stop, it actually regressed. I don't even have any scar tissue from the retina laser surgery. Course, since the laser stuff my A1C has only been in the low 6's. I reversed the darn thing. Vision in both eyeballs is 20/40. Keep going!

Yeah, no doubt. I was never clear on the details, but blood sugar levels directly affect the lenses in your eyes. I believe high BG levels cause the lenses to swell, which causes transient changes to your vision. As soon as you normalize your BGs, your lenses return to normal and your eyesight responds accordingly.

These transient changes to your lenses in response to BG is in addition to any changes in the retina due to long term BG control issues.
