Creatine Supplements for weight training

Wondering if any of our weight training members have ever supplemented with creatine monohydrate powder and if so did it negatively impact blood sugar levels. I am considering taking this supplement but do not want to do so if it would cause a problem. Thanks.

There was a brief discussion on the topic over in the athletes group.

I’ve take creatine monohydrate with my protein shakes for a few years without effect. So let me give you the short answer.

No.

Creatine does not affect your blood sugar. It is hypothesized that may alter insulin action, but I’ve never seen any reports. If you just consistently use the recommended dosing (5g/day) you should be fine.

I have taken a lot of creatine and a little, I am a competitive heavy lifter w. a squat over 500lb weighing 220lb. I take a lot of protein, creatine, insulin, and some Jack3d. I have never seen any change in my BGL regarding the amount of creatine I took in,

I agree with the others. In my early 20s I took creatine in small amounts when I remembered to. I saw no effect in my BGLs.
