My g5 sensor is on its 8th day today. The accuracy seems to be off. At work it said I dropping fast at 5.6. I took 2 glucose tabs and tested 10 minutes later My glucometer said 8.3. So I ended up going to 10.8. It did it again when I got home .I did the correction and it dropped quickly but not as low as it said. It said I went to 2.7. It was actually 4.3.
First of all, don’t test 10 minutes later and expect there to be any validity to the comparison of your prior CGM reading and your post-glucose tab reading! Not saying the sensor data wasn’t wrong, but please, don’t do that.
When a sensor reads habitually low, here is the official method to adjust it: calibrate it 3 times, 15 minutes apart. Don’t cheat and just put in the same number. Actually test your bg 3 times!
I’ve used that method and verify that it works. (Unless the sensor really is failing, is loose, etc)
Many, many times, my sensor reading is within less than 6 points from a meter reading (unless bgs are moving quickly of course). Often, meter readings are identical to G5, even after more than 12 hours since last calibration. that makes me very less motivated to keep doing finger sticks all the time. I’ve gone from 17 tests per day to less than 6.
