Dexcom CGM

Soooo i just got my dexcom today and put it in and havent had a problem with it yet!!! sugar levels are within a 20 range so i must say its a relief to actually not have to worry about my sugar level as much! ive had it at about 150 for 2 hours now 150 before the dexcom was impossible if it was 150 with just my meter id bug out and eat something now im not afraid to leave it… so far my experience is a great one! if you have one and would like to suggest some tips or just wish to leave your feedback please feel free too… thanks all

I’ve only had mine since Monday (but had MM before that)–it is sooo much more confortable and accurate so far

i know theres red spots on it i wanted to mark it so next time i can place the sensor in a different place :o)

yes i know its surprisingly accurate hopefullyyyy it stays that way heh

I’ve used a Dex for four years now - and I love it. Just remember - trust it for trends, not as a replacement for a finger stick. I estimate mine is accurate (withing 20 or 30 points) about half the time…maybe up to 70 percent of the time. But it almost always tells me which way I’m going!

Good luck!

yea i agree… it doesnt replace your meter but like you said it lets you know which way its going and that was always my problem… if its off 50 points oh well aslong as it tells me if it is and how quick it is going up or down and then i can finger stick to get more accurate detail… thanks for your response though im glad you love it also! btw what injection sites do you use?

Thats awesome! You have a good range too. Im on the MM and I love mine. Im sure that it will let you in on a few things that might be going on that you might not have even known. Happened to me twice. Let us know how its going (later I mean)

I used the MM and was not a fan, painful and not accurate, but I think at my next endo visit, I might try out the DEX, I can drop to 49 and function, like everything is okay.

Ooooo man I do the same thing, eat something to keep me from going low, when I may not be.

Ive gotten decent accuracy out of my MM. I’m usually within ~20 points until I’m on day 6+ then it starts to fall off before the inevitable “Sensor Fail” alert…Then I take a day off and start fresh on the new week. I try not to take note of the numbers, but its hard not to all the time. I had a problem over-correcting for highs (I’m not patient so I was stacking insulin) and my wife had to tell me to lay off or else…I did and (go figure) it worked.

Congratulations on starting the Dexcom!!

The pump changed my life in many ways…but the Dex changed it even more. There is a sense of comfort being able to ‘push’ a button and see what is going on. I have been ‘Dexing’ for 4 months now. Best 4 months!!!

I also love my Dex! I started using mine towards the end of April. Prior to that, I had a Navigator and there is no comparison. My only problem with Dex is being able to hear the alarms at night - I have gotten into trouble several times because of that.

There is a Dexcom group that you should check out & you can get some good tips there. One of the best tips that I have had is not to calibrate unless your BS has been stable for about 15 minutes.

that is a really good tip Kelly i will deff try that it makes sense also! buttt for now it will have to wait ive been wearing my dex for about 2 days and i guess with the sweating and all it fell off and im not gonna waste another sensor till i have like some kinda tape or something that holds it on…

i shaved its the sweat… when i was in the house it was fine once i went out and got sweaty it started falling off…
