Dexcom G5 Totally Went on the Fritz! Explanation? Insights?

Two days ago I inserted a new sensor (same transmitter). A few hours after I calibrated it, I took my bed-time BG reading. Meter said 140, GCM said 180. I left it alone. During the night, it alerted me that I was low. GGM said 60, actual BG 70. I drank orange juice as I usually do. Then the fun began. It alerted me with two arrows straight up. Unusual, but whatever. An hour later it alerted me with two arrows straight down. Then it alerted at 45, was really 95. Then it alerted me that my BG was over 200.It was actually around 100. I set the parameters as high as it would go and tried to get some sleep. When I got up, it said my BG was 210, meter tested at 50, which I retested and yes, that was right. :frowning: All that morning, the receiver showed my BG as climbing up and up. Finally, at 344, I tested again, meter said 105. So, I stopped the sensor, waited a half hour to restart it. Now it’s working just as it should.

A few things: I wasn’t sleeping on it. I did check to make sure the transmitter was seated properly (it was),

Thanks,
Josefine

It’s pretty common that the first 12-24 hours that Dexcom readings will be off. It like it needs time to find the sweet spot for readings.

Sounds like a question for Tech Support–those swings are just too weird!

I agree that seems rather extreme, even for a first day of cgm weirdness.

I also agree it is too weird. Talk to tech support.

I have had all kinds of weird readings when compressing my sensor while sleeping. Often it is marked by total out of nowhere highs and lows followed by dropouts (???).
