I’m back, I re-started my sensor about 20 min ago, I’m excited to see if this works for me! I couldn’t wait the 2 hrs warmup before I posted to let everyone know.
I had not been on here in a couple weeks, but since I was last here, I received a box of new sensors & started one on 3/8, so it expired earlier this evening.
And, I did not mention this before, but my insurance is thru my employer not Medicare. And I might have mentioned it before, the supplier is not Dexcom. I used to call them when I started the last of the box of 3 sensors… more recently there is an “automatic” order via an app. We shall see if this is more timely.
I am so appreciative of all the comments. If I can just get a handful of extra days from restarts, I’ll be grateful for that! I hope it works, I’ll update soon!
How long did you wait after you removed sensor? Some say 15 minutes, but I usually wait 20-25 minutes.
But maybe dexcom has found a way to defeat restarts in more recent batches.
Ahhhh. I see. Yes, the sensor session was stopped with the transmitter still installed. I did not set a timer but there was some time before the new one was inserted.
Soooo I already started a new sensor. So in 10 more days I’ll try again… and be more exact after removing the transmitter.
Honestly, the timer doesn’t matter when you’re waiting hours, but it is important that you not wait a single second less than 15 minutes. I’m not nearly as patient as you to get my data back, hence the timer.
Even when your session is stopped, the transmitter is still registering new data from the sensor… It’s just not sharing it with us anymore! Since the G6 is designed to not let you remove the transmitter until you remove and break the old sensor, you basically have to trick it into thinking you did exactly this by prying the transmitter out while it’s actually still intact and installed.
The “no restarts” is triggered when the transmitter gets recent data from the sensor AND the same calibration code is used as the previous session (depending on your transmitter’s particular software, there might be other triggers too, line trying to use the no-code method instead of re-entering the same calibration code).
Good luck next time!
Even if you are actually using a new sensor, you’re still supposed to wait at least those 15 minutes between sessions, because people sometimes get false “no restarts” errors, otherwise.
I would like to report SUCCESS in restarting my current sensor! Late last night, 11pm eastern time, I tried again, this time waiting considerably after removing the transmitter. I was going to wait 15 min but waited slightly more than 30. I dozed off but woke up after 1am and it was past the warm up! I went back to sleep and woke up this morning and it was working fine.
Kind of corny I guess but, I’m so excited about this. I learn so much from being here.
I have not been diabetic as long as most people here, and I greatly appreciate the sharing of information and especially without judgement. I always tell people that I have learned more about diabetes from people I have never met.
