i don’t understand why your dr would say that. maybe i have something to learn about this disease. everything i have read if numbers are under 100 fasting and before dinner and you don’t spike too much 1 hr or 2 hr after dinner(140) tops, your diabetes will not be able to progress . i hope someone else gives their opinion on this.i’m looking for a good endocrinologist because i feel most gp don’t understand diabetes.
Have they ever given you Gabapentin for the numbness. It really helps with that. I know people who use it.

Hi Blizzard2014, No Gabapentin has not been mentioned to me. Do you use it? Is this a medicine or a supplement? Do you know how its supposed to help?
Gabapentin is a medicine that slows down the nerve signals. It works really well for nerve pain and for numbness. You can do some research on it. Lyrica also helps. Some people smoke marijuana which is also good for nerve pain. You can do some research on google. I hope this helps you.

Hi Blizzard I will google the Gabapentin and also the Lyrica. I am not sure that I want to take more medication than I am right now. Not sure I would want to do the marijuana either, but I will start to do my research about the foot pain and what might help before it gets worse. Thanks for the reply about the medications.
Hi, all. I did some research about diabetic neuropathy since my brother is experiencing the same. I’ve seen him suffer at night for days. I know conventional treatments are the main suggestions of google. But I found something called microcirculation therapy saying it would help improve blood flow that could help poor circulation (as it is the problem of neuropathy). I’m no expert I’ve only read research articles and reviews about this. Was wondering if anybody of you here has ever tried or heard of it? It really interests me. Shoot me a reply thank you so much
Hi anniecurtis,
This is actually not the 1st time I heard about how helpful microcirculation is. I am now more curious about it.
Hi BessingRC
I’ve attended a seminar (small one) and the topic is about c02 treatment, what I understand is, The introduction of CO2 is to trigger the body to pump more oxygenated blood all throughout our body. Improving our microcirculation would definitely result in a plethora of positive effects (due to the fact that more o2 and nutrients reach the littlest blood vessels in our body).
Also, Bad circulation is not common, especially in young persons. It often targets the elderly, middle-aged, and those suffering from different conditions including diabetes and atherosclerosis
Therefore, by improving blood circulation we can maintain the acceptable number of our blood sugar and that is of course with the help of C02. Also, c02 is actually FDA approved (FACT)
Thanks!
I think you may be mistaken. CO2 therapy is not an accepted practice and I can find no indication the FDA has approved it anywhere for peripheral neuropathy or foot care in any way. I think you may have mistaken CO2 treatment with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) which is an accepted by insurers as a medically necessary treatment for diabetes wounds and peripheral vascular insufficiency, the FDA has in fact not approved it as a treatment for peripheral neuropathy. The FDA has cleared HBOT for thirteen indications:
- Air or Gas Embolism
- Carbon Monoxide Poisoning and Smoke Inhalation, Carbon Monoxide Complicated by Cyanide Poisoning
- Clostridial Myonecrosis (Gas Gangrene)
- Crush Injury, Compartment Syndrome and Other Acute Traumatic Ischemias
- Decompression Sickness
- Enhancement of Healing in Selected Problem Wounds
- Exceptional Blood Loss (Anemia)
- Intracranial Abscess
- Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections (Subcutaneous Tissue, Muscle, Fascia)
- Osteomyelitis (Refractory)
- Radiation Tissue Damage (Osteoradionecrosis)
- Skin Grafts and Flaps (Compromised)
- Thermal Bums
It is only indicated by the FDA for problem wound care even if it is considered medically necessary by insurers for vascular problems.
You can also test yourself at home using a Medipin. I do it monthly and if ever there is a difference be off to your doctor like a shot. I really don’t like the idea of leaving it for once a year
