Hello Terry,
I think this site is here also to receive moral support from people with like issues and get ideas about what might be happening to us (so we’re not so in the dark about things), so we’re not as nervous. I do have an upcoming Dr. apt and will discuss this. BUt meanwhile I just thought I might share and get some thoughts from my fellow diabetics of whom some have really become good friends. I’m not actually looking for a diagnosis.
Judith,
I appreciate your comment but it is very dangerous if we all start giving out medical advice. It is very unfortunate that a lot of people can’t afford medical care or feel as if they are not getting enough from their doctors. All the more reason to become involved with the different diabetes associations and support Health Care Reform. Now is the time to use our voice and effect change.
Terry’s comment are very well placed. I think we all have a tendency to relate every scratch, bump, etc. to our diabetes and sometimes to over worry about complications or possible new conditions. This is perfectly normal - I have done it many times myself. I hope that all of us in this forum can support one another and it’s great to bring up questions such as this - keep doing it.
But playing doctor or name that diagnoses is very dangerous and some people could get hurt if they don’t seek medical advice. I would never want to see us discouraging that.
Please everyone support Health Care Reform. Get involved and use your voice - then everyone can afford to seek good medical advice.

Thanks Natalie,
With yours and others responses I have actually calmed down somewhat. I tend to get overly nervous but I’m seeing my dr soon anyway.
Thank SO Much!
Amy:)
PS I appreciate the support immensely!!!
Amy,
Please let us know what your doc says. Maybe we should start a poll “What Are Amy’s Dots?” to see if anyone guessed right:)
Thanks Kathy,
I do have an upcoming endo apt where I will discuss this issue. I was just curious as to whether this was a common thing amongst diabetics. Thank you for your much appreciated support,
Amy:)
could be bed bugs… that’s why they say “watch out for bed bugs” before you go to bed silly
JUST KIDDING
lol
Yeah, I get that. I hope the dots turn out to be nothing and I’m glad you’re seeing your doctor soon.
It’s just that even we diabetics are subject to the “my cousin’s neighbors son-in-law had that and lost his arm” kind of gossip, and I don’t want to see anyone get freaked out.
I think the best sort of support is the acknowledge that I know your worried, I’m sorry I can’t tell you what it is but I’m sure it will be okay if you’re not in pain, and please let us know what the doctor says.
Terry
You know, you’re pretty funny, but you get a person thinking. OMG!
Thanks
Judith,.
I appreciate you and my fears have subsided. And I did crack up once or twice. I believe this site is mainly to lend support to our fellow diabetics. I can read and read and learn all I could online, in books & magazines; and I do but sometimes you just need a shoulder to cry on and someone to make you feel like you’re not all alone in this battle. I consider it a battle. You’re the best!
Amy:)
Judith,
Thank you for your message, I needed to hear your words. I’m really new to this support environment and wow, I think my response was well intended but came out as judgment and not really listening to Amy’s feelings.
Amy, I am truly sorry for not acknowledging your reaching out to others for support and responding with a very critical voice. It took going through my own fear and concern to recognize we all share together.
I was in the emergency room today because I thought I had an infection from my pod. It started hurting last night and when I changed it there was blood in the cannula. It was still hurting today and I panicked and ran to the er. As I was sitting there waiting for the doctor I started thinking about your post and why red dots on your legs would give you concern. We all deal with this don’t we. That fear, that panic - what should I do? could it be a complication? …
It messes with your head and you want to talk to someone who understands and knows what your going through. I’ve been a wreck all day and there is nothing wrong with me - I should be happy right?
Thank you Judith for so kindly pointing this out and reminding me that this is a place for understanding and care for others.
We all share this one common thread.

I don’t see it as a lot to deal with. There is always someone out there with something worse. Celiac disease is an intolorance to gluten/wheat. Your body can’t digest it properly so you start having, mainly, stomach problems. I really don’t have too many stomach problems, cramping sometimes, but I get horrible horrible headaches if I eat anything with gluten. It sucks because I can’t eat anything with wheat/gluten in it, which is in a lot, but they make a lot of gluten free foods now.
Hi Brooke,
YOU have a terrific outlook. You must be a glass half full type of gal. I am too usually. I just get down sometimes with this disease and ask why me at times. I only have it since this past Sept. But right now I’m in a glass half full moment. I really dont think I have the celiac disorder though. NOne of the symptoms fit. I really appreciate your support. It means so much to me. I’ve been hearing more and more about gluten free products in general. I’m glad the industry is mnaking it a little easier on all the celiac sufferers. Have a GREAT day!
Amy:)
I am so intrigued by this mystery of the red dots. Hope you can post soon what your doctor says they are. Thanks for getting me thinking. My guess Diabetic Nueropathy, but I am not a doctor, I only play one on TuDiabetes. I hope it is nothing and that you get better soon.
I think age and hormones have something to do with that too…I have them on my arms, body and legs. I first noticed them in my forties and I am 50. i know of other women who have them too and they were not diabetics.
