Diabetic Neuropathy

In most cases a Type 1 would consider a 6.8 excellent control, Many of us can’t get below 7.0. There are also studies that suggest that trying to get below 6.5 may have the opposite effects than people are shooting for.

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge there are no conclusive results that there is anyway to reverse neuropathy. There are ways to manage the pain. One of them is to use a compound created from hot peppers that kills off the nerves.I touugh it was call cap( **** something ). I can’t recall the name of it but I have discussed it with several endos.

As far as the depression goes, I believe you really need to get into a local support group and under the care of a professional. Depression can be managed and there is recovery. Medication if you are not already on it can be a big help.

I’ve been a Type 1 for 55 years and there sure are times when it is depressing. But I always manage. I just tell myself about all the things I could have that are much worse. Diabetes is just annoying. There is light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train. Your A1c’s are excellent.
