So how do you get a pump with a 2500.00 DME cap? This is crazy...
It's all about insurance you have to get a better policy which will also cost more money...that's the bottom line MONEY.
I have an excellent Insurance. United Health care Harvard Pilgrim Choice Plus. It's not bottom of the barrel at all. But it seems these caps are getting tighter and tighter as time goes on.
Yes insulin pumps are part of the cap sadly. I am just going to get a CGM for now and fight this later. I need help with predicting highs and lows and getting up 7 times a night is not helping my quality of life. I take 20 sugars a day and am only covered for 10 strips a day so I need to fix this part first and use a CGM for offsetting my immediate issues and then look at the pump when this settles down. I have an A1c of 6.9 on needles alone so I am not doing that badly when all is said and done.
I'm not knocking your insurance but insurance shopping is a tricky business. I've had a lifetime of dealing with insurance companies and know how tricky it can be. I'm not on Medicare you want to talk about confusing..when you get to where I am you'll be somewhat of an insurance expert but still not knowing it all because things do change. I bet with that United Health insurance they have different policies and one will suit your needs.
