For the people that want to go for a secure placement of the sensor I have been using skin tac when applying the sensor. Then cutting a rectangular hole just the same size as the sensor holder in a 3" square of Hypafix tape and placing that over the sensor sticky pad. It will hang over the sensor pad by approx 1/2" all the way around. Then cut off 6" from a 4" wide roll of Tagaderm water proof tape and cover everything that has been applied so far, using skin tac under each layer of tape where it touches skin. This keeps a bit of tension on the sensor and adds an extra water proof layer over the tape which makes the application great. While on vacation and swimming every day in the ocean body surfing and having the tape rubbing on my wetsuit it lasted for 21 days and under normal wear and tear I have gotten 32 days (my best) although now I remove the sensor at 24 days max. Hope this helps
Nice placement - hope it works well for you there.
Thanks! I did just have to remove it after only a few minutes. It felt
like I hit a funny bone when I walked. Maybe an inch lower/left next time.

I hate insertions so much that would totally bum me out. I don’t know if moving it lower would be a great idea, if anything I might move it a bit higher to the bottom part of the calf muscle. My current sensor is on the back of my arm and has been spot on for the last 2 weeks. I’m hoping for continued good readings and longevity.
Lol, yeah, I hated ripping $100 off my body after 1 minute:)
Yeah, I hate insertions, too – I even have PLENTY (too many?) sensors on hand, yet, I’ll try and stretch them out to three weeks just to avoid putting in a new one. Lately, it seems that I’ve only been getting 10 days from them, (though, the current sensor, which is on the upper part of my abdomen, is on Day 11…). Not sure what’s changed.
If you’re a customer Dexcom will replace any sensor that does not last 7 days. I have had a few bleeders recently and they replaced them even though I told them I had placed them on my thighs. When they start the part about only wearing it horizontally on the abdomen I say my endocrinologist recommended I use my arms or legs and they’re perfectly okay with it.
Hey Thas, I noticed a drop off in longevity too but for me it’s gone from 6+ weeks to 4 weeks. It may just be the sensors are nearing their expiration date and the enzyme that generates the readings is losing activity. I send my surplus sensors to a couple of families with T1 kids and a few seniors who can’t get them covered by Medicare. I dutifully sign all petitions and send letters to my senators and congressmen and women to request their support for CGM coverage as I am only 10 years away from needing it myself.
I’m in the same boat as you are there! Though my need may be more short-term, as I have to find a new endo before the next round of prior approval deadlines! I hope I find someone who’ll work with me and soon!
Hello,
how much time work dex near the ankle ( i mean like the first picture from Clare3)
Is it mess correctly?
Thank you I’ll wait your answer because this is important for me!
Hello the sensor near my ankle worked accurately and comfortably for 53 days. I have also worn sensors on the back of my arms which lasted more than 4 weeks.
WOW 53 days… sounds too good
thanks for the information :)))
i will try with my next sensor!
have a nice day
Another good site is on the forearm just below the elbow.
yes i know, but i want to try a place which is not so visible because im a young girl - wear dresses t-shirts and feel uncomfortable, when people saw me strange or constantly ask me questions what is this why am i sick and e.g
I totally understand. I’m much older and have had diabetes for 42 years. I don’t care if people see my devices or have questions about them. I’m happy to answer. I wear an Omnipod insulin pump so I have 2 devices stuck to me at all times. I normally decorate the pods with paint, nail polish, or stickers, but the Dexcom transmitter is too small to get creative.
haha i am “DIY” person as well -> i love draw, decorate, paint different things and e.g
So if i try something interesting, i will heartily share here.
Thank you once again!
