I tried that years ago, not related to diabetes at the time. I found that it only mucked up/slowed down my metabolism. If I eat every 2-2.5 hours, then my metabolism stays up, and I’m less hungry or apt to overeat.
I eat about the same sort of things most days, and couldn’t say exactly what the ratios are. Here’s an example of a typical week day’s food, though:
Breakfast (8:00):
All Bran cereal with lots of sliced strawberries or blueberries and skim milk, coffee
Mid Morning Snack (10:00)
Low-fat, sugar-free yoghurt, apple or pear or other fruit, coffee or tea
Lunch (12:00)
Bowl of veggie & bean soup
Piece of fruit or raw veggies with low-fat dip
Diet soda
Afternoon snack (2:00)
cottage cheese with fruit or salt & pepper
Dinner (5:00)
Grilled pork loin chop (marinated in fresh lime and seasonings)
Baked or grilled sweet potato
Steamed asparagus with lemon juice
Tossed salad and fat-free dressing
tea or a glass or red wine
Evening snack (7:00)
Air popped popcorn with seasonings
Tea
As you can see, I’m eating pretty much non-stop all day. It’s lower carb than a typical western diet, but it’s also low fat. It’s also low-calorie (yet filling) and I tend to eat more calories on the weekends, when I’m likely to dine out while shopping or dating a fellow who has insisted on hanging out with me for many years.
I’ve never followed any sort of eating plan - I know I was told that I really should eat every 2 hours or so, but I’ve never gotten into doing so. left to my own I graze all day long without issue (or a spike in BG levels) but life day to day doesn’t support grazing for the most part.
