I was just reading about drug dependence and well it made me wonder Am I addicted to insulin?because for real, every one of these points, kinda apply to me and insulin. I’ve never had to steal to get insulin, but I think I was close to that one time in my life. And many people need to resort to that, I’m sure.
Some of the other points are eerily echoing insulin
Absolutely NOT the same. Insulin promotes a natural and necessary bodily function. Are we “addicted” to food… and its elimination? Of course not!
Well, if “under the influence” in this case means “staying alive” I guess I can manage guilt-free
Of course this is tongue in cheek. It just made me think reading the descriptions of symptoms that it fits how we on insulin deal with day to day issues of using insulin, being worried about having enough insulin and supplies
Worry about too much or too little.
Worry about the costs
Concerns about driving
But most of all it is a subject that I live with every day all day and never get a break from it. It’s pretty much all consuming esp when it’s not behaving the way I’m expecting.
Of course,it would fit a lot of medications for chronic conditions.
I took it that way. Like all good jokes it does have a ring of truth.
So did I.
I understood it as tongue in cheek too!!! It certainly fits!
This is quite funny.
When I was a kid there was a tv show called “ High Feather.” It was an awful pbs show about kids at camp and nutrition.
One of the kids was type 1 and the other kids all thought he was a drug addict. It was the first time I ever saw a diabetic kid on tv.
Even though he did weird things like Cary a cooler and they overplayed several situations, still it was almost as comedic as that clip you posted.
