Has anyone experienced a dry mouth from acid reflux . I have gastroparesis so maybe the 2 are linked. I was also having trouble bringing up phlegm. I found out what the dry mouth is from. I have acid refux. It really sucks.
Dry mouth is usually a side effect of medications.
I know it is from the acid as sometimes when the acid lets up I know because my mouth feels nice and moist. I have never had a dry mouth.
I don’t know whether my dry mouth is connected to acid reflux or not. Prescription toothpaste formulated for dry mouth has been a big help in minimizing my dry mouth. There are at least two brands, both with 1.1% fluoride, no surfactant and labeled dry mouth are available with a prescription.
I think of dry mouth when diabetic as a symptom of dehydration, like from running a high BG for a time. So I would start by looking at BG control over the last couple hours.
Perhaps it is also worth checking with docs for Sjogren’s Syndrome. It’s another autoimmune disease that causes dry mouth, dry eyes, dry skin as well. Can also in some cases affect joints & muscles. You could has both acid reflux & Sjogren’s. Or maybe all you need is good antacid. Hope it’s the latter.
