I was today years old when I heard about the association of diagonal earlobe crease and heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Known as Franks sigh. I’ve seen some studies that have a correlation and some that say there is none.
I am type 1 and I had a couple of syncope episodes and I am trying to figure it out but all my cardiac tests have been negative carotid studies, stress test brain scans. Really nothing found yet. But I’m still looking
I don’t have earlobe creases. But I wonder why I’ve never heard of this before.
Who here has earlobe creases and do you have cardiac disease? Could be a fun experiment
Me I’m 58 No sign of cardiac issues yet,no crease and 37 years into type1
I’m 74 and have had echocardiograms, stress tests with pictures, my most recent stress test was chemically induced PET scan, and ECGs. The only abnormality is a Left Branch Bundle Block which I may have been born with. No earlobe creases.
I had heard of this many many years ago in the health food store world. I knew there had supposedly been research that was ongoing about it, but it was pretty much accepted that it was a warning sign. I did notice it in several customers that had cholesterol issues.
I do not have it, and heart disease is hugely prevalent in my family. My grandfather, grandmother, father, mother and brother all died from heart attacks. My brother suddenly. Both my sisters have heart problems and have had issues for quite a few years.
I just had a heart scare, but it turns out it was all probably allergy related the best they can figure. I had a hard time breathing and went to emergency and had PVC’s show up, but a regular steady heartbeat, EKG was fine. But they referred me to a cardiologist just in case. I wore a Holter vest for a week. My PVC’s had gone away, breathing had returned to normal by that night and my heart beat was great, numerous EKG’s were normal, 4 ultra sounds showed my heart was doing great. They said my heart is in great shape. My bloodwork has always been good and I’m not on BP medication or cholesterol medication. The way I look at it is it’s probably in my future at some point as it’s so prevalent in my family, but I think being a vegetarian for 56 years and a vegan for 42 years has helped to keep my heart healthy.
That didn’t work keeping my back okay, which also seems to be in my family genes. But mine looks like originated from a car accident years ago. But that is what has had, and will have, the most impact on my life and through my retirement years.
Oddly enough even though I knew about the ear crease, I’ve never checked my sister’s ears! I’ll have to ask them!
I, too, have ear lobe creases. Had a mild heart attack at 39, but have never had any further heart problems…and it’s been quite a few years (more than I want to admit to!)
