Does anyone else have falsely low A1C values. When I check my BG averages my A1C doesn't fit with the readings. There is a very large group of people that the A1c is always lower than expected for the BG readings. There is are multiple articles on this subject. I can give some references.
Mark- My endo told me that my A1c is erroneously high- That my BG and CGM indicate that my A1c should be lower. He said it was related to a hemoglobin abnormality rather than BG. I think the point is that the A1c may not be as reliable as many think. I would add that it might be a more reliable indicator to say if your BG control is going up or down. That is my understanding, but I haven't done research.
Mine generally seems right for what my 90 day average shows.
thanks for the replies. We base everything on the A1C and there are definitely are a group of people who the test fails them. My A1C is 5.6. My average BG is 150 according to my CGM.
