FREE Type 1 Diabetes Management App?

Hi everyone,

I have been looking at some of the forum feeds and haven’t seen much about FREE diabetes management apps (iPhone). I am currently using PredictBLG, however, was informed that it would cost me after 30 days. A lot of these said “amazing” (mySugr, etc.) apps cost money per month, which I think is a little crazy, instead of maybe having a one-time app purchase fee (which I wouldn’t mind). Any advice? I am looking for an app that is able to help calculate mealtime boluses along with insulin on board… I was on the pump, but because of many, many, many “No Delivery” alarms, I have decided to go back to MDI for the time being.

Thank you for your help and advice!

Tidepool is a possible choice. MySuga has a few limits on its free site but it might work. As are whichever software works with your meter or pump. Many will feed to iPhone. I know acu-chck connect feeds to a telephone but many do. My advice is to take a look around.

Check out the Rapid Calc app, available for iPhone. It’s designed for MDI’ers and costs about $6 U.S., a one-time fee.

I just double-checked: it’s RapidCalc.

I’ve been using the diabetes version of the MyNetDiary iPhone app since my diagnosis last October (on MDI). It often doesn’t get mentioned in discussions of apps, but I’ve been very happy with it – lots of little user-friendly features. It may have changed, but when I got it there was a one-time cost to download but no monthly cost unless you upgrade to the “Maximum” or “Pro” version (provides better reporting / graphs, which I haven’t found necessary).

Thank you!
