I’ve seen lots of people complain that their phone drops connection with their G5’s, but for me it’s my receiver. My phone has been rock solid steady. The receiver will drop out way more often. Today it just alarmed that it had lost signal for 25 min and I was in the same room the entire time. It will also drop out at night, but my phone keeps going just fine.
I’m not worried since the phone is keeping up, but could I have a bad receiver? I just started with cgms the beginning of this month so it’s brand new.
We’ve been blessed with fairly reliable connectivity with both the receiver and iPhone. Sounds like you might have a wonky receiver. I recommend calling the consistently nice Dexcom folks. Good luck and let us know what happens!
I suspect you have a bad receiver. I had a similar issue after I dropped my first receiver on concrete floor. The screen was 50% messed up but it still worked most of the time. However, there were unexplained signal drops when the iPhone still had a good signal. I replaced it with a new receiver and no more problems, works like a champ. You can probably get a replacement under warranty (unless you admit that you dropped it on concrete like I did).
If anybody is occasionally clumsy enough to drop their G5 receiver (like me), I highly recommend the Dexcom belt pouch. It seems to be well made and is well designed to provide a bit of padding. You can read the screen on the receiver without disconnecting from your belt. Not sure if they show it on their web site, I got mine when speaking with Dexcom tech support.
Dexcom is sending out a new one. They had me try resetting it first. Worked for about a day, then I started getting small dropouts again. Last night another 25 minute lost signal alarm while phone was fine and this morning same thing.
