Yes! I was looking forward to G& so I could do myself but need to ask husband to press bitton and even he has difficulty. Have you called Der to inquire?
I will wait to hear from you before I call.
thank you. I’ve called them like 3x. They are sending me replacements. When my husband presses REALLY HARD, the button releases. So please call them. It’s good to know I’m not alone, and We shouldn’t have to press that hard.

I just switched to the G7 from G6. The first sensor I tried to push the button on, it failed. I tried different locations and none were successful. I thought I wasn’t pressing the applicator hard enough, so I tried pressing it on kitchen table and when I pressed the button, it triggered. Is there a trick to pressing the applicator on or perhaps where it has to be applied? I didn’t try on the back of my arms yet.
It’s possible that you weren’t pressing it hard enough. It would
certainly be easier to press it on a hard surface (such as a table) than
on an appropriate body part.
You need to press the applicator against your arm (or other body part)
hard enough to push the clear plastic rim of the applicator into the
body of the applicator. If you don’t press it hard enough you will be
unable to depress the button that deploys the G7 sensor.
Just place it a couple of inches on either side of your belly button. There, you can physically see how hard you have to push to compress the unit before pressing on the button. I like that position because I sleep on my side and don’t experience compression lows with the sensor in that position, and it is much easier to insert there. If you ever need to call Dexcom, and they ask where you placed your sensor, tell them on your stomach, and that is where the doctor approved the insertion. They will then never hassle you.
OK, just had a session with my Diabetes Educator. At her office, she walked me thru the steps and it was easy to attach the sensor. The only thing we thought could have been causing it was that I was pressing the applicator TOO HARD. Otherwise, no problem. I too want to attach it on my abdomen like I did for the G6
