While I don’t want to cause alarm, my normal 90-day, 9-sensor G7 shipment from US med was reduced to a 30-day, 3-sensor shipment with the following enclosed note:

Updated Dexcom G7 Sensor Availability
Dear Valued Member:
Due to Dexcom Inventory Constraints on G7 Sensors, your current order has been adjusted to a 30-day supply. This change ensures all our members have access to sensors they need. We are working closely with Dexcom to return to 90-day refills as soon as possible. In the meantime, please keep in mind that we will need your approval to send your next order every 15 to 30 days , until 90-day orders are available again.
We understand the importance of having your supplies when needed. We are working with Dexcom in doing everything possible to minimize the disruption. Thanks for you patience and understanding during this time!
Sincerely,
Your US MED Member Care Tesm
END OF MESSAGE FROM US MED
I can find nothing on the Dexcom site about a G7 sensor shortage, and don’t want to create any panic … but do want to encourage G7 users to reorder sensors when you are eligible rather than waiting until the last minute.
Giving everyone the benefit of the doubt (and those this is given to seem all to often to exploit getting the benefit of the doubt) someone is misinformed, either the DME or Dexcom… or more likely in my cynical opinion one is lying!!!
Could there be a shortage because Dexcom has had to replace so many G7 sensors for so many users? This morning I had another failed sensor when it once again wouldn’t pair. The magnet trick wouldn’t even work. It’s so much stress if it will pair or not. I’ve used Dexcom for years, but this is the first time I’ve had to call and get so many sensors replaced.
Don’t forget to fall back on finger sticks, you all. It sucks, but sensor failures or lack of access are ALWAYS when you just happen to see a pump failure.
OMGGG, I thought it was just me… I was going through the same exact problem. I called around 20 different pharmacies to find my meds, After a long battle on my phone, I gave up and tried this service that calls around pharmacy for you. I think their name was FindRx. May be you should try them, I was able to pick up mine using them.
I saw a similar notice earlier today. The WL is not posted on FDA’s website yet but the “manufacturing issues” the notice refers to could explain why there are G7 shortages. My last routine shipment a month ago was for 3 sensors instead of the usual 9. My distributor included no info or letter explaining the shortage. I had to email them and then call before I found out there was a problem.
I have been getting my supply of nine sensors on time every 90 days from CCS Medical without any shortages ever since they started the nine-sensor delivery program. I am on Medicare and the Medicare G7 sensor are identical to the non Medicare version except for the packaging.
I have not had any shortages of eggs, diabetic supplies or medications in the US either. And, of course, gas for the car is more than twice the US cost in NZ.
While it may not have affected everyone, particularly depending on timing of a 90 day cycle, I got 3, instead of 9, sensors 40 days ago with no word yet of the next shipment.
This is the response from Dexcom
tech support:
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Dexcom is committed to providing product to our patients without interruption, however, it is possible that these delays may affect 30-day or 90-day supplies through your supplier. We expect to resolve the issue in the next week or two. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
I hope that they are accurate in their 1-2 week prediction, but it seems clear that the problem has existed for at least 6 weeks. Not great communication from Dexcom, I would say.
I’ve also had issues. I called Dexcom and they apologized and said they hope to have this resolved very soon. My company is only sending me one month at a time,
