G7 through xray at airport

Is it possible to put g7 sensor run through X-ray scanner at the airport? I know officially you are not supposed to but I’ve done it on my g6 without any issues and so have lots of people in the diabetic community. It just makes travelling easier without having to battle with security. That said I haven’t put my g6 transmitter through the scan before so I’m not sure whether it will malfunction on that.

Given the transmitter and sensor is one piece on the g7, I’m curious to know whether it is possible.

I’ve done it with G7 and I had no issues.

To me the key issue is that exposing CGM to the body scanner can nullify the warranty.

Yeah not on the full body scanner, just the X-rays. Your checked luggage doesn’t get the full body scanned, it just goes through xray. If it can go through X-rays then all my backups can be checked in, I still carry one set of enough supplies on me.

I tell the TSA agent I have a pacemaker (which I do) so they take me aside and pat me down. Before they pat me down, I mention I also have a sensor and point to it, so they are not surprised.

I’d say about half the time, I get through security faster than those in line for the scanner, and half a few moments later. So no big deal.

I walk through the scanners all the time and they don’t even get picked up, the g6 sometimes did alarm.
The new unopened sensors, I put in the X-ray and I have never had an issue with it. Even if it did fail from that, I wouldn’t notice because they fail now and then anyway.
Now I have a mobi pump, I don’t even tell the TSA about it anymore because it doesn’t trigger the scanner or the metal detectors. Esp if you have TSA precheck. Because I think they turn the sensitivity down in that cue. You can also wear a belt and shoes.
I wear my mobi stuck to my body so it’s more difficult to present to the TSA so Now I don’t. I’ve probably taken 20 flights since I got my mobi and I’ve never been wanded or chemical tested, where it was every time in my Tandem X2 and G6.

I just got back from a trip on which I took 6 flights total, with layovers. I have heard anecdotally on here that we can walk through the body scanner and/or metal detector with no problems. To me, though, it’s not worth the risk. I get a pat down every time I fly. I do this primarily for the pump but the result is that my g7 also doesn’t go through the scanner.

I have found that TSA and airport security in other countries are polite and give me no trouble about requesting this. I simply explain the situation, point out the locations of my pump infusion set, and sensor and do what they ask me to do. I have had one or two agents try to convince me that I can go through the scanner because they have tested it with medical equipment, but if I politely refuse, they will relent.

On this most recent trip my spare sensor did go through the luggage scanner because I forgot to take it out. TBD on whether it will still work…

The actual Dexcom info is at: Can I wear Dexcom G7 through airport security or while flying? | Dexcom. Dexcom’s current guidance is that the G7 is ok to go through walkthrough magnetometers, the advanced imaging tech (AIT, otherwise the legs spread hands above head thing that spins around you), and the luggage x-ray systems. It used to be Dexcomm said ok to x-ray, but hadn’t tested the AIT’s so didn’t approve, that has changed. You can always ask for pat-down instead, but depending on where you are it may take a few minutes to as long as 45 minutes (TSA will say its the first, their workers may say the latter and its been my experience). There is no warranty issue. If you’ve told otherwise by Dexcom Customer Support or Tech Service, look at and refer them to the current Dexcom website.

I have had no problems with the G7 going through x-ray in carry-on. I have a pacemaker and need to go through the full body scanner. I recently flew to Chile and Argentina and had no issues - they are very professional and courteous. They know what pumps and CGM are.
When I last flew two people behind me going through the full body scans had pumps!

That’s great they finally release a statement on this!

The pump itself I think is still a no go for the X-ray and full body scan as far as I know - officially. But unofficially I think there were some people reporting it was ok.
