The headlines and summary of this study got the actual findings backwards.
I’ve blogged about this here: Bad Science: Study of Diabetic Women’s Sexual Response Gets it Backwards.
Note that the actual finding of this study is probably that women with diabetes who take antidepressants are more likely to report sexual dysfunction–not a surprise. SSRIs screw up sexual response for many people.
But this study of DCCT data could find NO RELATIONSHIP between blood sugar or complications and women’s sexual performance. Very different from what they found in men. These were older women with long standing diabetes.
