Thanks, Dee_Meloche. Appreciate your comments.
If you have any questions I’d be happy to answer them.
@Dee_Meloche Thank you. How accurate are the Medtronic Guardian readings for you?
How difficult is it to insert in the tissue? It appears to be in two parts online. Is that true? If so, are both parts inserted at once or separately?
Thank you again!
The guardian 3 sensors can be very accurate and at other times be really inaccurate. I know that there is a time lag of 15minutes but sometimes I have had a sensor that said i was 5.5 when I tested on my meter it was like 8.7mmol. The insertion is easy and I don’t use their tape. I marinate my sensor. When I can I insert it the night before and don’t connect anything to it and charge my transmitter in the morning and do the warmup when my sugar is stable which is in the morning. You should start it early as you can to get in all the calibrations. I use Hypafix overtape and apply the tape over the whole sensor. I also round the corners of the tape so it won’t fray as easy. You have to find your spot where it is the most accurate. Yes, it has 2 parts. First insert the sensor then charge the transmitter and connect it to the sensor. You pump will ask you if it is a new sensor and you would select start new sensor. I use my thigh as my arms where not giving me good accuracy. I also find on the last day of the sensor life it can give you false readings. It is not perfect but I have alot of hope for the guardian 4s which are the exact same sensor as the 3s. It the transmitter that is different. The g3 transmitter is what requires us to calibrate. I calibrate about 4 x a day but sometimes more when the accuracy is off. They say too many calibrations can make it inaccurate but what are you supposed to do especially if I need a bigger correction than what the 780 can give me. Depending on where you live you might already have the g4. If you live in the US then you will have the g4. I live in Ontario and Medtronic isn’t launching the g4 until the end of the year. I hope I answered all your questions!
