Heart thing with diabetes

WTF is an air-fryer? Pics and a very scientific explanation of how it works, please!

Red meat is not the enemy. Carbs are!

GoWISE USA GW22631 4th Generation XL Electric Air Fryer w/ Touch Screen Technology, … Amazon.com

Basically it violently blasts super hot fast moving air all over your food. Just a light coat of oil on the food itself or in many cases none at all and it comes out like it’s been deep fried. We should start a different thread for them instead of taking over the poor guys heart problem thread. It’s fun to exchange recipes and ideas etc on what works well with them, I do it on fb.

Do you think it has been discredited as a source of heart problems? Not because of fat but becasue of saturated fat? As far as I know, there is still a strong statistical correlation between red meat consumption and heart disease. If you have any good recent research that infirms that, as I am a carnivore at heart (heh), I’d love to read otherwise:-)

Robert, I hope you continue to feel better and are able to figure out the problem. Am wondering if you also had liver enzyme tests run? Or an ultrasound image of your liver/gall bladder? Your symptoms sound somewhat similar to an episode I had 1.5 years ago and it turns out my gall bladder was full up with stones and a few had come loose and were blocking my liver, causing liver and gall bladder function to go berserk! Intense heart attack like pain. I thought I was dying. Had to have an ERCP (endoscopic) procedure immediately, followed by gall bladder removal later on. Will be thinking about you! Jessica

Jessica, thanks for the kind thoughts. Test for enzymes was negative, so there was no damage to the heart muscles. My doctor doubled the Norvasc. My gall bladder was removed two years ago. Next Monday will be the Nuclear Stress test ( injection of thalium and a series of ex rays ) to determine what is going on with my heart. That is big.

Most medical types around me are saying it was an ā€œanginaā€, but nothing has been proven yet. My chest still hurts, so no one knows really until that test. Will keep y’all informed of what happens on Monday.

Robert in Memphis

after a DVT generated series of large blood clots passed from my husband’s lungs to his heart, he struggled with arythmia (sorry for the spelling) until surgery corrected that issue. what has remained is his status with congestive heart failure, which is now going on seven years - that’s that fluid around the heart. we did not know that that term did not necessarily mean an immediate emergency, just was a description of a group of symptoms. while he has not been ā€œcuredā€ of that issue, it has been medically controlled. I’m including this just in case that term scares the bejesus out of you…not a perfect place to be health wise but don’t be afraid to sleep at night

You probably have seen the ads and call it a food shrinker. The time laps photography showing the food cooking and as it does, it shrinks :sunglasses:

Good luck on stress test Rob, hope results come up good. I will probably be having one come spring.

Will it work on clothing? (I’ve lost weight.)

Children? (I want my daughter to be smaller and younger again. Never want to experience an empty nest. And I always want to be in charge of her D-care because she isn’t as diligent as I am…)

Tests said everything was within acceptable limits. My primary doctor gave me nitroglycerin to take in case of another coronary event. Use the nitroglycerin, get a headache, call 9-1-1 (emergency number) and/or race to the ER.

So, now I always wear a vial of nitroglycerin around my neck. I obviously have my diabetes equipment. My wedding ring and I’m never fully dressed without a smile.

Yikes. This must have been very frightening. Glad it’s in the past.

Yes, it was. It scared the person in the car with me at the time. But everything is fine. I get tired more easily now. I have had no further trouble. Only one week to go on the job.

The only medical update for me is a new Endocrinologist.

Fill an empty nest with a dog. They love you no matter what and their puberty does not last as long as a human’s. And, if you get a cute dog the kids may want to visit more often. Dogs are also an instant diet if you share your food. So no guilt for larger portions, when sharing. And all the dirt, foul odours, etc can be conveniently blamed on the dog.

Hi Robert,

Sorry you had to go through such a scary experience! But thanks for sharing it with us. It will help someone else, I’m sure.

Hope that you don’t have to go through it again!

Best wishes,

I’ve heard that this procedure provides the ultimate diagnostic to decide your next step. Good luck with the heart cath, @Robert17. At least the uncertainty should diminish. I hope the news is good for you.

What happened was that I was cutting the grass and I suddenly felt winded, huffing and puffing. Cutting the grass is something I had no problem doing in the past. I took my dog on a walk and halfway around the block, I was huffing and puffing again. I almost called my wife to come pick me up, but I rested and slowly continued. The dog was oblivious to what was happening.

My doctor had gotten my BP down to 110/64 which is the lowest it had been in years. But after the ā€œexertional dyspneaā€, he now wants the blockage fixed ASAP. The Heart Cath will find the blockage and send a balloon to open it, or go on to a stent.

Wife is making me rest till then.
