Most of what I have to say, you’ll find over on Health Spectator.

I am (just for the record) a big believer in low-carb diets, being the insulin-resistant sort. Exercise, of course, helps too, but I don’t get as much of it as I used to. I used to do a lot of bike riding (the real kind, not the fixed-location variety); now I get most of my cardio from my treadmill, which unfortunately doesn’t get as much mileage as it used to.
