I eat pretty much eat the same breakfast everyday and I am not diabetic! I just need something predictable and easy in the morning rush while trying to get 5 people out of the door.
I also eat the same things for breakfast. With dawn phenonmenon, I don’t need any additional surprises. Keeping my first meal simple & consistent is easier & works better for me.
it might be the change in insulin–my body did not like Apidra at all (was using novalog in the pump-but meal time spikes problematic) -needed more and just couldn’t figure out my timing curve for it–went back to novolog and added symlin–
I think you have the same issue I have with high spikes after eating but correcting with insulin after 2-3 hours. The issue is that you are breaking the carbs down too quickly. It causes you to get a big rush at once but as the insulin will bring it back down after it’s 2-3 hour peak. I tend to graze so I don’t get the big boost all at once. You can also add protien which slows down the digestion.
lol. I’m with you. Although, I do eat eggs about every morning. But I change the way they are made and I mix up the sides like 1 day toast sometimes w/ or w/o cream cheese. The next yougart. The following maybe some oat meal. But lunch and dinner have no consistencies.
You don’t have to totally skip breakfast!! How about some eggs or other pure protein??
Hey Danny, help a girl out.
What are 1. TAG; 2. Square portion; 3. Squre time?
I would make sure you are dosing your insulin bolus soon enough (at least 20 minutes prior to eating, if your BG is at least 100.)
Thank you for being so helpful to me.
Just remembered, I had a friend with the same problem. His doctor had him take Novalog, Levemir, and Symlin. He said the Symilin helped him from peaking too soon after meals. Not sure how Symlin works, but you should look into it.
