I wish to thank Anthony, Gerri, Unicornzzz, Estel, Jenny, Donna and Rachelle, who kindly answered my query about the lantus dosage. Gerri you asked why do I object about 2 type of insulin. The only reason is maybe one day by mistake I pick the wrong one, say I pick the one for the morning instead the afternoon one, so for me I prefer just one type. I know this is silly of me.
Reading all your replies I just cannot understand why after not even two months my specialist wanted to switch me straight away to nova mix 30, (at the time the highest were after dinner in the 15 mark,)without first increasing the lantus. ButI I think when he saw that after that week the levels were greatly improving now he is giving lantus a chance to work by increasing the dosage bit by bit. He said he waits for May’ s blood test before changing the insulin type to a rapid one. I stay on lantus obviously unless he sees I need to change it at once if the levels are really high. I have to call him in 3 weeks time to tell him how I am doing, so far it is good, on Saturday it was high 14.6, I am sure it was because we had kentucky, I think a small pack of chips raised the levels. Last night it was 5.5 before breakfast and 5.6 before lunch and this morning it was 4.4. before brekky. So maybe, just maybe thing will improve if I keep good check on what I eat.I thought I was doing that but apparently not enough. Thanks again for your help. Have a nice day.
