It has already been stated but I 10th the suggestion to find a new doctor if possible.
I have had great success with Victoza, which I inject daily. My appetite is diminished, my numbers immediately went down and it beats the heck out of surgery (IMO).
I also 10th the suggestion that an increased dose of Metformin will be an option worth trying; likewise with splitting up your Levemir doses.
Additionally, and you may have said this and I missed it, but move your injection site around. It is possible that scar tissue is affecting absorption of the Levemir that you are taking.
Sorry to hear about the scary emergency. I hope it turns out to be nothing and, like the others, I hope it leads to you getting the help you need to get your blood sugar in control.
I'm so sorry. I hope it all turns out OK. Use this as an opportunity to get time with an Endo who get's you the treatment you need and deserve to get your BG back to normal ranges.
No doctor will be more concerned with blood sugar than chest pain unless you're in DKA. Once they've decided you aren't having a heart attack, they might pay more attention to the blood sugar.
I'm sorry you're going through this scary thing. I hope, as everyone else has said, that you end up with an amazing endocrinologist out of the deal!
I hate to suggest this, but refuse to eat what they supply if it's not appropriate for you, and tell them you won't eat until you get a meal that's decent for YOU. I'd also make a stink about your bg. Tell the cardiologist it's causing you undue stress maybe?
I'm so sorry you're going through this. Do be the squeaky wheel!
I was released from the er last night chest pains and shortness of breath have returned but I went out and worked in the garden and mowed most of the lawn blood sugar is 381 a little high for me
Glad you're home. Was your EKG normal, Tinman? Do you have a follow up appointment? Will you be seeing an endo soon to help get your blood sugar under control?
