Holy PDM Batman!

I would just like to take a sec to vent. We have been on the Omnipod for about a year and a half now. My son is 12 so most of the work is on me, which is fine that is my job but ooooooh my! We have been thru 3 PDM's and that crazy sticky key alarm goes off in class all the time and makes my son so embarrassed. Plus the many dud pods. I know the insulet hold music by heart!!!!!! I know it is much better for my son because his bs are more regular but it is exhausting sometimes! So we r taking a pod break! Are there any other frustrated mommas out there???

My son was on the omnipod for 3 years and just went back to shots 2 months ago. He is a senior in high school and I can relate to how you are feeling!! My son came to me and said that he felt the omnipod was too unreliable and too much work and he didn't think he could manage it on his own in college. Since he has been off the pod, he is much happier and his blood sugars are fine...not much different that they were on the omnipod. Now he doesn't have to be late to class after changing the pod 4 times becasue of occlusions, he doesn't have to worry about it going of in class, he doesn't have to carry so much extra equipment, and he doesn't have to deal with insulet every time he has an issue while he is away at college. I have to admit I am much more rleaxed and I don't freak out every time I hear a high pitched noise! Good luck to you and your son!! From... a frustrated momma no more!! :)

I can only imagine the frustrations of being in school and having to deal with the Pod crap. Unfortunately, there is not any great option (as far as I have discovered) without tubing.....not able to make any suggestions until a new "tubeless" pump is available. It is just more crap we T1's have to deal with, "What doesnt kill us wil make us stronger" isnt that the ol' saying? Well, it sounds like you and your son will groww to be "the Incredible Hulk" Good Ludk, and I may suggest that you take a look at the "Momnipods" group at TU.

LOL Steve! Thanks for the laugh I needed it and I will check out that group!

Thanks Hilary! The main thing I like about the pods are he gets a basal every hour and we dont have to carry insulin on a short trip to the store! I can't even think about college...AHHHH! Good luck to your son as well!
