Honey vs. Sugar?

Is there any significant difference as far as diabetes is concerned?

Honey has 17 carbs per serving. Still sugar, still increasing your blood sugar.

No, there is no difference. Sugar is sugar, regardless of its source.

Carb-wise they're pretty equal, the best difference I know of is that honey has more flavor than white sugar (as do brown sugar and molasses) so I can use less when baking and lower the overall carb count of whatever I'm doing, but again thats just because I used less, not because one is better than the other.

As far as diabetes is concerned, no, they can both raise your b.g.

Honey is sugar, but honey is very, very concentrated, so it's better for treating bad lows if you aren't using glucose tabs. It's right up there with icing. :-)

As far as baking is concerned, honey actually pulls water out of the air because its sugars are so concentrated. It's better than sugar because it keeps baked goods moist for longer.

i use less honey than sugar, it is sweeter, and additionaly it has vitamins and minerals
