Hospital insulin dosing

I feel exactly the same. So scary!

I agree with ā€œsliding scaleā€ when the patient is impaired (lots of meds on board etc). My beef is that the medical center I have to use refuses us the opportunity to self-manage. And it doesn’t appear that the patient has any input on that sliding scale (e.g. takle a look at the patients’ pump settings).

I did reach out to the ADA (who publishes the Standards of Care every year) to see if there is a way to learn which facilities follow the guidelines - and which do not. This is all prep for my changing health plans next enrollment time. Trying to choose wisely since once enrolled - its for a whole year (with no chance of parole)

Definitely needs advocacy. Breakthrough may be the best bet as those with Type 1 are most at risk and Breakthrough is advocacy-oriented.
