How many basal rates do you have programmed into your pump?

Well…off to bed, it is about midnight here. Thanks all for sharing. Be well.

I have 2 but they work just fine for me … =P

I have 4
12AM-5AM, 5AM-8AM, 8AM-4PM, 4PM-12AM
plus temps for exercise

I have three. Normal one, sick one, exercise one

I have 4 different ones. One from Midnight to Noon, Noon to Midnight, a special one when I am golfing and another one for when I am doing high intensity workout.

Hello, I have the minimed pump 722. I use 2 different basal rates in the day, 1.70 u/h from 8 am to 6 pm , and 2.25 u/h from 6 pm to 8 am. Thats a total of 48.50 u/d.

Got you Dave. Still learning I guess. I have three rates programmed within my normal profile. May be going to 4 real soon.

I think I get confused a lot with the little things of the pump. Luckily I do know how to work it and such. Get confused about the circle, not a circle, increments and such.

BTW, I am having MM send me Sure-T’s as replacements for my Lot 8. I like them. I had a problem with a site yesterday and today using the quiksets. Not going to do it for me. Thanks for “harping” on those. Not sure if I would have tried them otherwise.

I have three profiles as of right now Been pumping now for 32 Days. 26 u/day.

Hope pumping is going well for you:) I remember loving the coverage for dawn phenomenon and weird drops mid-day…it is great once you find all those periods to tweak.

I’m currently running on 9 basal rates. I have 4 different rates from 10:30 pm til wake up time. When you look at my Dexcom, my nighttime graph is usually a straight line. Incredibly stable.

Currently using Basal Rate A (instead of Standard) with 10 different time slots. As I’ve been losing weight (on purpose! LOL! and not the diabulemia way like I did in 2001) my basal rate has changed 4 times since May (when I got a Dexcom Seven Plus). Another reason I’ve had to change basal rate so many times is that it seems like every two weeks I lose enough weight that I start crashing during night… So currently 10 different time time slots over a 24 hour period. Last night was amazing as I actually had a straight line running around 135 through the whole night! (Wahoo!) Unfortunately, in two weeks time the night time rates will mostly likely need to be lowered… ahh… the pains of losing weight while controlling my blood sugar levels. (grrrrrrr!)

I have eight basal rates throughout the day and night with a 24 hour total of 5.75 units per day. On my lower pattern I use 4.45 units/24 hrs and the higher basal pattern uses 8.1 units/24 hours. I seem to need less insulin as I get older.

Congrads on your weight loss;) How are you doing it?

I have 6 in 24 hrs… and also have 3 different i/c ratios…seems to be working fine…Thank God for my Endo!!

Sorry I didn’t see your question until now… I’ve actually been doing Weight Watchers and more exercise (either through treadmill or going up and down stairs and doing more housework than normal, LOL!). The doctors (even the specialists) in my area are all for both Type 1 & 2 Diabetics using Weight Watchers - I just have to make sure that I do both programs (giving insulin for carb ratio and counting WW daily points). Any time I went a nutritionist, it just didn’t work for me. I need the constant weekly support Weight Watchers gives me. I also hated how I’ve gone to a nutritionist many years ago and she was overweight herself and she was telling me what to eat - I love how Weight Watchers has leaders who know what it is like to lose some poundage themselves and are at their goal weight.

The first time I did Weight Watchers, I wasn’t on an insulin pump and didn’t take my shots. So I lost 75 pounds REALLY fast! Talk about feeling like death everyday - my blood sugar levels were running sky high. If you do Weight Watchers, it shouldn’t be too hard to just give insulin like you normally do for the food you eat knowing the insulin/carb ratio = the Weight Watchers points will help you realize if you are eating too much throughout day but yet having somewhere to go weekly to make yourself feel accountable for what you ate during week.

(Hope all of this made sense! I’m having a brain fart today and can’t focus very well.)

Good Luck to you!

I have 3, one from 10pm-2:30am, one from 2:30am-10am, and one from 10am-10pm, but I’m only 5 days into being a pump user (!), so this may very well evolve further.

I have 7 different basal ates throughout the 24 hour period. I am a bit touchy with my BS

Hi, Nel! I had to write to respond to your comment on dawn phenomenon. I’ve had diabetes for 15 yrs, on a pump for about 12, and always took it as gospel that I’d need more insulin about 3 am or so. I just began using the CGMS monitor over the last 3 weeks and, lo and behold – no dawn thing. I actually had to reduce my overnight basal because my blood glucose levels were falling. Very interesting.
