Sounds goods Ray…how many calories a day does your diet consist if I may ask?
most Endo’s will not advocate supplements I have learned other than a multivitamin but we all know what works it is our body’s after all
smell the sarcasm there solo
Because I am not on meds (other than bp and cholesterol) I don’t really count carbs or calories. I test 3x daily (morning and then before/after dinners) and I run a little high in the mornings (120-135) but not insane. The most I have been was 145. My key to success is in portion control… I eat frequently but smaller meals and snacks. I have found that 300-350 calories per meal x 5-6 meals is keeping me safe and sane. My issue now is that I am on the nicotine patch to quit smoking and instead of counting sheep to go to sleep, I am counting pork chops. I am finding that I want to eat more so I am actually drinking more water, walking more, and trying to spend my non-smoking time more productively. It’s been 10 days without a cigarette and I’m not being featured on America’s Most Wanted. There are alot of things that I can’t do (algebra for one) but I can control my numbers and I CAN choose not to smoke.
So I take:
Irvingia
Alpha-lipoic-acid
vitamin B-12
vitamin C
vitamin E
fish oil
acidophilus
flax seed oil
multi-vitamin
Irvingia: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1168905/
I don’t know all the ins and outs of it. For example the papers talk about the benefits of the seed, but the suppliment is the seed extract. Is that the same? Close enough? Some of my nutritionally minded friends say no, some say yes.
I can’t tell you that the weight loss I have had can be attributed to the irvingia. I haven’t done any testing. I just want to lose the weight.
I would say, stay skeptical, don’t do anything dangerous or harmful, and prioritize your spending.
I take… Multi Vitamins, Fish Oil, Vitamin D, Vitamin B3, Creatine, Glutamine… Now as for insulin resistance Vitamin D has helped me treamendously! The rest i take pretty much cause i workout altho taking a good MV is highly recommended anyway…
I take
multi-vitamin
C
E
Patassium(Klor-Con M20)
I have taken lots more but have trimmed down the list got too expensive
I’ve taken lots of different supplements and tried to detect any observable effect on my blood sugar. Basically, nothing had any marked effect on my blood sugar. I did find transient improvements with Bitter Mellon supplements, but the improvements dissappeared after 2-3 weeks. I found that high levels of niacin did “raise” my blood sugar. These days I take supplements based primarily on studies that show their utility. I look for multiple credible studies or recommendations to support that use. I am concerned about the quality of the supplements, so I don’t buy off ebay, but I don’t worry too much given the evidence that I have seen.
Here is what I take each day:
Multi-vitamin
8-10 g fish oil
8-10,000 IUs vitD
B-100 (see http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11500203)
Benfotiamine (for neuropathy)
R-ALA and Biotin (from Insulow when I can get it)
Magnesium and Zinc (for electrolytes)
There is some real evidencethat fish oil reduces insulin resistance.

That is great news, cause I was taking it to make my burps taste good.
Ha!
I was taking it because my nutritionally minded friends kept recommending it. But its good to get scientific corroboration.
Alas, nothing made myburps taste better than my home made rootbeer.
