Hey guys!! Just wanted to find out how often everyone goes to their endo? Mine wants to see me every 3 months. Is this normal?
My internal specialist wants me in every 3-6 months, normally closer to 3 than 6. Don’t go to an endo yet.
I see my dr every 3 months for routine diabetic labs. In reality I usually end up seeing him before the 3 months is up. He wants to keep a close eye on my labs to try to catch problems early.
I have just moved to Florida from the UK where I was having 6 monthly chekups. I have since had 2 check ups with my doctor in a year. Maybe I should be having more?
Holly from what I have read they will want to see you 3 to 4 times a year mine told me to expect that he will want to see me at least that. He also works with an assistant who also wants to see me in between those visits to keep better tabs just because I am still “new”. On top of that my GP wants to see me after the endo does.
I was seeing one that wanted to see me every 3 months, and I liked that. It gave me incentive to make sure I got my 3-month labs done on time. The one I’ve been seeing only wants to see me evry 6 months, and I’ve not been thrilled with that. I’m going to be switching though, and I’ll see what the new one recommends. I’m happiest with every 3 or 4 months, personally.
since I’m such a “brittle diabetic” (hate that term) my endo sees me every 2 months. I actually like seeing him that much, it makes me feel like I’m really on top of everything.
I see mine every three months!
I see endo every 3 months or so and I see the diabetic team (nurse, dietician) at the hospital clinic every 3 months or so. I also see the family GP once a year for an annual physical and when needed for anything else. I also see my shrink every 3 months … due to a severe major depressive disorder partially brought on by 40 years as a type 1
I see mine every 3 months. I was diagnosed at 8, and am now 20. It’s just a normal check up and A1c, and fix the amount of insulin usually, then labs once a year.
Thanks for all the quick responses. One more question. How far do you have to drive to get to your endo?
I go every 3 months and have for the past 15 years! Also, I have about a 1 hr. 45 min. drive, but it’s worth it. Besides, I always hit the mall on the way home:)
If I saw an endo it would be 2 hours one way, I have tried the endos around here and I don’t care for any of them and my GP is doing a great job with my diabetes. My A1C has been in the 5’s since May.

That is awesome!!! Unfortunately, I can’t find a doc that knows anything about diabetes (at least T1 w/pump) without driving at least 1 hour. When you take into consideration that you have to sit in the waiting room for a couple of hours and then drive another hour home, that shoots the whole day. But, we do what we have to do to take care of ourselves I suppose.
I see the endo every 3 months–after I get my bloodwork done–I get a labslip for the next visit when I leave ,unless I have an issue and then more often… my GP every 6, my dentist every 4, eye doc once a year for now.
I see my respritory therapist way more often than I’d like to (shes nice—I just hate having crappy lungs)
…Every 2 - 3 months for my endo; I see my regular physician once a year. I see the eye doctor once a year as well. I average about 8 total doctors office visits a year.
I go to my GP every 3 - 4 mos.
The office is only a 1 1/2 miles from home.
Great job Cody, I also feel my GP is doing well with my last two A1C being 5.8.
Thats what we do, every 3 months and once a year they take the big blood test and test everything .
Our specialist is about 4 hours drive from where we live. I take my child only every 6 to 8 months except if something came up. Our GP’s doesn’t know anything about diabetes. That is why I keep myself occupied learning as much as I can about diabetes and research wherever and whenever I can. Knowledge is power
