Thats how i´ve learnt almost everything. There is no information where I live so the web has become my most precious advisor when CGM related issues. Diabetic Danica has great material.
I’m trying to picture this. Do you mean the pod itself stays on the same horizontal line, but you effectively get two rows of sites? How does this differ from going across the belly in two or three different rows with the pod pointing sideways? Or maybe there’s no difference? Or maybe I’m just easily confused?
I usually get three weeks, just got four weeks on the last one. I’m not sure, but starting to wonder if Dexcom may be doing something different. I do what a lot of others do, but I do it in stages. I run and workout a lot so it seems like the adhesive wears out faster the more I shower. So, as gross as it sounds, I try to shower only once a day even if it means going back to work without a shower after a lunch run. Tmi. Anyway, after one week the sensor adhesive starts to peel off. That’s when I put there first opsite flex fix patch over the top. From there I usually just cut off the peeling patch and put another one on as needed. If I get a sensor error or question marks I just tap the sensor for our five times do a calibration test and wait to seer if it picks back up. If I have to drop that more than a couple of times. It’s time to change the sensor. With the iPhone app, I’m expecting to be in the sixes for the first time in my life.
Hey you do what you got to do to save a buck. Ilk keep trying to get as much life as I can.
Right. Sorry to be less than detailed, but you read between the lines rightly. Probably no different from horizontal placement. It just feels a little more streamlined. Of course I do wonder often, how close is too close for application side by side.
You can do it!!! We’ll applaud you when you do! My first arm insertion wasn’t as smooth as I’d hoped. I think I managed to get it in a little muscle so my readings were wonky, but every one since June has been great. Now when I’m site changing my Dex I make sure to hold my arm up and shake it to find the fattiest part. Extra incentive to make me exercise, I guess.
Also, I’d been placing it more on the back of my arm, but after reading that @DrBB tries his almost on the inside of his arm, I’ve tried that. It takes me some mental gymnastics not to let it drive me crazy (because I can feel it more there and sometimes have this insane urge to rip it off for no apparent reason), but it is less visible and a little more protected.
I also started using the back of my arm with great success although i had help inserting the sensor. I will try your method next time. One thing i learned quickly was, ladies, watch your purse. I carry a purse with shoulder strap over my right shoulder. Every time my purse slipped or if i wasn’t paying attention, it would snag the sensor. Fortunately, i never pulled it out but it hurts to have a heavy purse “avalanche” down your arm, running over anything in its wake! (A tad melodramatic, i know lol)
This time, i’m using my left arm & i have to say this is my favorite site so far. Tried my thigh & had wonky readings. Abdomen seems better for pump, so i think left arm area will be Dexcom territory for a while.
Hope that helps
Ugh, I totally agree with that!! The purse is treacherous!
