Hypotension bradycardia

A while back I posted about having a slow heart rate and orthostatic hypotension.
I dug up some old records and we’ll, my resting heart rate was 51 when I was diagnosed with type1. In 1987
So mine in the 40s isn’t as odd and I thought.

I started wearing this zio ekg thing to record for a week.
After 2 days it’s falling off. I keep my dexcom on for 7 days and it never comes off. Also it springs leaks through my shirts.
No sure if it’s sweat, or shower water taht got trapped.

Hopefully it will come back with nothing.
Drinking more water has already all but fixed my orthostatic hypotension.

After this fun experience, I will get some ultrasound done.

My doctor told me that he wouldn’t be doing all this if I wasn’t diabetic.
I really don’t know what more I can do to be healthier.
My sugars are well controlled, I eat pretty well, I exercise every day.

If that’s not all I need, I got an elevated psa, and I was berated for not getting a colonoscopy as of yet. So I get that to look forward to.
This is a frustrating life we live, also getting old kinda sucks.

Working backwards from your order…

My PCP realizes that as a T1 it’s be difficult for me to do a colonoscopy so at age 54 all I’ve had is a Cologuard test.

Yes I can have some problems with orthostatic hypotension if I’m not fully hydrated.

My heart rate can be as low as the mid-50’s. But usually I’ve walked 2+ miles to my doctors office and my heart is still pumping at 70 BPM or so by the time the assistant is measuring my pulse.

Well Tim , we have the same name. We are the same age and have the same symptoms. I think there is a strange coincidence. Or maybe we are brothers.
Everyone I know is getting high blood pressure at this age not low and everyone has a faster heart rate not slower.

I’m getting a colonoscopy finally in a few months. I will have a diabetic anesthesiologist so I’m feeling like he will have a handle on it. I have my pump so it can do my job while I’m out.

Still it’s worrisome.
I already had cancer when I was 25, so you would think I would be more on top of this.
Somehow the discomfort of the testing is worse than the possible diagnosis.

It’s really stupid, I know, but I totally get why people put this stuff off.

I’m just forcing myself to do it.

@Timothy well, it beats the alternative, I vote to keep getting older. I have a PSA near zero for 6 years, since I had it removed. I had to look up orthostatic hypotension, dizzy from low blood pressure when standing. I have bradycardia from bicycling daily. My resting HR is in the high 40s.

To celebrate my 71 year, my doctors have scheduled an abdominal aortic scan, negative, colonoscopy, found, removed and biopsied a polyp, negative, and on the 10th a chemical stress test and PET scan of my heart.

All my blood work and urinalysis were great in May, HbA1c was 5.2%, that’s like a personal best since diagnosis.

As a nurse, I always advise my patients to drink more water in order to bring BP back up. So yes it’s one of the best ways. You’re not taking beta blockers are you? And we don’t get excited over lower HR less than 50 unless the person is symptomatic. Some people naturally run lower. But if it’s the med doing it, then I would get it lowered or taken off of it completely. Not sure if all this is new info to you. Sounds like you already know a lot on the topic. I don’t focus long enough to do a lot of reading l, so I often miss points other people have touched on lol

Get the colonoscopy, They will schedule you in the am. The procedure will take about 1-1 1/2hr in total. I have had 3 in the post 2 years. The prep is not so bad and I had a 2 day prep where I had to drink double the normal amount of soln over 2 days. I did not want to go and a dr friend of mine said, It is better to do it and possibly take care of any polyps then to manage a colostomy bag. There are sugar free options to help you manage your sugar.

The prep for a colonoscopy is the hard part of the procedure for me. I don’t want to drop too low and my sodium levels need to stay stable too, since I have problems with low sodium levels. I find actually getting the colonoscopy the easy part. You aren’t out very long. My anesthesiologist and doctor were fine with my ideas about how much insulin I wanted to take and when. I am not on a pump.

I tried to get by with the Cologuard test but it came back positive, which caused me a lot of stress. Turns out I had a polyp which was removed. I will have to go back in 5 yrs.

Thanks for the input. I don’t take any bp meds and I don’t take cholesterol meds. I take cholestoff and insulin. That’s it.

I’m going to get the colonoscopy. It’s really just the stress of it more than the actual reality.

I’m on my third day of ekg monitor. It comes loose easy. I’m doing my best to keep it on.
