Glad to hear! Sounds like we have a new convert! It's my preferred site since its so easy to forget that you have it on!
24 hours on my upper right breast & I am having a similarly great experience! Like Claire said, it absorbs super well, and it’s been super comfy.
Thanks ladies for the tips!
That's great to hear Sue. Although I was leery the first time I tried it, it is now my favorite site.
i've used my arm and got 3 weeks out of the sensor but it does depend on where I insert it. I too don't have much fat. I inserted one last night, with arm straight and palm up inserted it a little to the side of my bicep in the front so I don't roll on it when sleeping. This way doesn't seem to work, CGM was dropping (arrow down below 60's) all night last night and seems to be way off today. I'll see if it mellows out some. Hate when I put it in a place where it doesn't work..ugh! I don't much like wearing it on stomach - tummy either.
I just installed a new sensor and it is on the front of my shoulder, right next to my armpit. I sleep on my side so that works well for me. When I insert the sensor, I point the front of it up a bit so it goes in more shallow. No discomfort whatsoever...the angling keeps it away from the muscle.
Hi, I know this is an old thread but came across it as I was searching for new Omnipod sites. I want to try placement on "the girls" but was wondering if you've ever done this with a sports bra? I work out most days and am curious if that would be do-able (fear not, I'm totally going to stuff a new pod in my bra for a test run later, but I thought it was worth asking since you've provided a lot of other great info)
I've used "the girls" for tubed infusion sites, and once for a CGM sensor (didn't work all that well), but I'm not an Omnipod user, so I don't know how the larger size would work. The reason is because I placed the sites pretty far up -- just about where the breast fat starts, and not down near where the nipple is.
For me, the biggest issue is avoiding large blood vessels -- in my case, I can see them right under the skin, so I have to be sure I insert somewhere they aren't.
So you'll have to experiment based on how YOU'RE shaped and see what works. Good luck!
Thanks! I definitely don't want to waste a pod, but I am going to try and shove one in there without activating it as a test run. :)
Jen - The girls are my all time favorite site for Omnipod. I am not heavily endowed but there is still plenty of space for a pod with a sports bra or just a regular bra. Most recently though I have tried my back for a site and it too is great. The myth is that you have to have some fat for a site to work. In most cases all you need is to avoid muscle, bone and blood vessels. I have been getting great numbers and even though I sleep on my back I do not notice it at all
Do you have someone put it on there for you? I'm not acrobatic enough to reach back there, but I think it's a great idea! :-)
I put that one on myself, but the one I have now on the other side was placed by hubby. It really is a comfortable site.
Wow, that looks like it takes gymnastic skills. :) But I do love it on my lower back so it makes sense that anywhere on the back would work. My pump educator named about 3 sites, total, so I'm really enjoying learning creative ideas from other actual Omnipod users!
I spent a few hours with a used Pod in my bra yesterday just to test it out, and I think I am sold on that site for my next change.
Jen - there is a really good facebook group called Omnipod Users there are 2900 members. This is where I have discovered many terrific sites for the pod. If you would like me to add you send me a message.
