Well.
Im going to meet with my doctor next week to get my a1c checked and to see if i am ready for a pump (witch i soooo am)
but i have to prove to my insurance company or something that im ‘‘Responsible’’ enough to ''Handle" A Pump. i mean come on Me? Not Responsible enough? HAHAHA! I Mean This Is From The Girl Who Forgot About Her E-Pet And It Died So Who Said That Im Not Responsible. Pfff…Oh…O_O
Well. Any Way Lets Go On To Why I NEED A PUMP!!!
#1 im a snacker. so i really want a pump so im not worrying about what my blood sugar will be if i eat some chex mix 2 hours after eating a meal.
#2 I tend to eat some peanuts without insulin and then go high and get mad at myself cuz i know that if i keep up with this habit of mine i will NEVER get a pump.
#3 I hate doing shots for a 1/4 of a cup of peanuts or something stupid like that cuz its soo not worth it. but i really love to snack.
#4 One Of My Friends Is Squeamish And Cant Stand To See Me Do Shots (like its about her, shes not the one who has to jam a sharp object into her last bit of belly tissue!... pff)
#5 Shots Hurt.
#6 Im Running Out Of Convent Times To Do Shots
#7 I Hate Waiting For My Mom To Stop The Car So I Can Shoot Myself!
#8 Needles.UHHH
so those are just a few reasons why i am eligible to get a pump!
plus my blood sugar hasten been the best lately and i often forget to wright my bs down. so im worried that i wont get approved. whaaa
as my brother says " Wait.So You Have to Control Your Diabetus, To Get Approved For Something That Will Help You Control Your Diabetus. That’s Stupid"
Thank You! My Point Exactly!!
How hard is it to get approved for a item thats supposed to make my life easier?
Hey there. I just wanted to let you know that while pumps ARE very great to have(I’ve been a pumper for four years now), they do require a lot of self control and responsibility, just as much as shots do. They do make things easier, but the wait is well worth it! I was on MDI for two years before I could get a pump. Saying this, I believe that newly diagnosed diabetics probably shouldn’t go on a pump for at least a year, because you’re still in your honeymoon period, and that insulin still being made has to be used, just as the insulin being given out by the pump does.
#1, I’m a snacker too. You still have to test two to three hours after any food you eat on a pump. #2, I do this on the pump a lot. Self control is as important on the pump as it is MDI. #3, The pump helps this, of course. It’s easier to push a button than to drag out vials, syringes, alcohol swabs and everything else. #4, I had a friend like that. The pump DOES make everything much more discreet. #5, They do. But infusion sets hurt just the same, even with the serter. The needle is a little longer than with syringes. #6, Aren’t we all? Setting up an infusion set takes longer than it does giving a shot. #7, I shoot myself while the car is going! It’s a learned “art”. You’ll get the hang of it! #8, See #5. (I do agree with you, they are annoying!)
Again, the wait is a good thing! Keep getting a pump in your sites, give yourself time to get into a good BG balance, and ready yourself for the pump. These things all take time! I hope I was of some help.
