I am really excited to be participating in the ADA's walk this year. Even though I am diabetic myself, my main reason for walking is because a very dear friend of mine's granddaughter, age 3, was recently diagnosed with diabetes. It broke my heart to hear about how she didn't understand why suddenly her mommy had to do finger sticks and give shots. She is the cutest little girl with a personality to match. Even though I, as an adult, would love to see a cure in my lifetime, I would really like to see a cure for the little people in our world! Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement with my diabetic friends! Is anyone else participating in the walk? Our's is October 9, and is at our local zoo, so it should be a blast to get to walk and get exercise, and see the zoo animals, all the while knowing that we are helping, perhaps in some way, to find a cure!
