Last time I was hospitalized on a pump, they under basaled and under bolused, so I just stopped eating. Ran continuously at 300 for days, until my mom snuck in some bolus. The doc yelled at her and said that if he discovered insulin in the hospital room, he would prohibit visitors. We hid it so that I could eat and bring BG down a bit, periodically, with correction.
OMG! mohe0001, you don't happen to live in NM where I do and the healthcare is atrocious and the doctors are idiots and THEY WILL KILL YOU!
Nope, but I've been to NM a couple of times and I live in the anagram of your state, MN. You all are making me laugh so much about your murderous doctors. LOL.
I've had several minor procedures (mostly staph drains) without general anesthesia and I have never had a problem with my blood sugar. Those procedures were short, though. I had a cyst removed which took the better part of an hour, and I was totally fine. When I got a tattoo, which took 2 hours, I ran my blood sugar at about 180 (which is not too high for me, I'm a teenager and my control isn't supposed to be as tight because of hormones and stuff) and it was fine. I took 2 sugar tablets halfway through.
