Incredibly Inspiring Video About Using the term "Disabled"

Thank you! This is for my twin sister who has been type 1 diabetic for 48 yrs. I nver give up. I’ll do this with a wish and a prayer.

Darn right you are Mike …wish you success Ann and let us know how you make out OK ??
Come to think of it : Your Twin is our Sister too !!

I have to jump in here, and relate that all disabilities can be seen, I am sure not being able to walk, to move your arms, to use your voice etc are major handicaps to life I am very sure of that. But I have a variety of alphabet soup letters after my name as far as disabilties are concerned, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) SCD, severe chronic Depression, and the list goes on. Because people can’t see these, and my behavior is mostly NOT bizarre to the “normal” world, I am ignored as far as a disability is concerned. Yet, it causes me not to be able to work, not to be able to connect with people, and the list of those goes on. Please do not forget that just because you can’t see it, feel it, touch it, nor understand it, that mental and emotional disabilties are just as real as those that are seeable, touchable, feelable. etc.

Thank you Cathy, this is a very good point!

I am watching the Paralympics opening of the Vancouver 2010 Games , while having supper, while typing this on the comp. in another room …soooo much to do , soooo little time …Aimee Mullins got on the stage here in Vancouver …what a wonder to see and listen to her and all the others from across our global communities .
Vancouver, Canada invited YOU and YOU came !!
I am clear, that all of the physically " disabled people " I got to watch tonight have doubts with handling their mental capacities one time or another as we do , living with diabetes …I am very proud to be a Canadian !

PS 60,000 people in the stadium …all seats occupied !

I am hoping we take to the streets again and PARTY here in Vancouver. Raise the status of the Paralympics! We are having Olympic withdrawal and what a great way to bring the spirit back, and a great thing for people with disabilities everywhere, too! I was not able to go to the ceremonies as I’m short on cash (darn tuition!), but friends of mine were there and said it was great and the crowd was really into it.

I am envious of all those in Vancouver and YOU , Jennifer ; wished I was living there .Let’s party and go to the free events

So true…adapting. An using what we’ve EARNED, to reach out to others.
