Insulin Munchies Linked to High BS- Really?

Just read an article on Insulin Munchies-- an endocrinologist said, there’s a link to high blood sugars! Something about a diabetics body not being able to recognize that it doesn’t need more sugar, it has more than enough or too much.
Has anyone else heard of this? The insulin munchies is something I deal with, but had no idea that it was a real issue, until I read a post from another member a few days ago. Ugh… this disease is so frustrating!

I always get hungry when sugar is up. reaching for food? stick a finger…

It’s definitely a thing for me. Over the years you get pretty deeply trained that “I’m hungry” is a danger signal but I have had this happen a few times where I was feeling “Uh oh, better check if I need to eat something” only to find it was the OPPOSITE of what I thought. Not nearly as intense as a hypo, but when it’s first coming on you can’t really tell–or I can’t anyway. For me the BG has to be past 200 or so for this to occur.
