Is there much point to shopping around?

My Copay is 30% and I was quoted $114 for a month's worth of sensors, and $542 for the Dexcom plus a month worth of sensors. Is that a reasonable price or should I look into another supplier?

That’s what I pay. Seems reasonable

$114 a month is a good price for 4 sensors. You may get more than a week out of them too so you won't necessarily need all 4 during the month. That will cut your costs as well.

We pay $75 each sensor :0

I get two weeks out of most of my sensors.

These prices are unbelievable. I pay $96 per sensor !!! and $550 for the transmitter, to be replaced every 6 months.

I just checked the Dexcom site, and they have a special running. A whole 8% discount brings the price down to $370 for the 4-pack.

I'd be surprised if your price will vary with a different supplier. The key factor is your copay. Mine is 50%, so you have a good deal!

Our insurance is good thankfully. Didn't realize the transmitter has to be replaced every 6 months or so.

I have had my system since November 12th and so far the transmitter has not had to be replaced. I believe the transmitter has a battery which is what eventually dies. But the receiver gives you about a week's warning before it actually fails. If your insurance is good then they will replace the transmitter when it fails.

I'm wondering what Dexcom's policy will be when G4 receivers exceed their warranty this Fall and their buttons pop out! Not that I am seriously considering purchasing the system but I do wonder...

Good to hear about the transmitter. I'm surprised that ANY insurance would refuse to pay for a new transmitter given that it's a consumable good with a non replaceable battery. Might as well refuse to pay for new sensors.

Mine went from working perfectly to totally kaput in two days, so don’t expect much warning. If you are past six months, I suggest that you order the new transmitter so that you have it.
