I used Luymjev for a few months in the “before times”. It was a short test because I had site issues. On my thigh a site would last just a day and exhibited bruising and bleeding when it was removed. I moved to my abdomen and it would last up to three days but with the same bruising and bleeding on removal. In the end I went back to Fiasp. Since then I moved back to Humalog because after a few years with Fiasp insulin absorption in my abdomen decreased markedly. I surmised that perhaps the additives in Fiasp were generating more scaring than Humalog. That’s pure speculation on my part, but the change helped. I have to deal with all of Humalog’s shortcomings, but after 30+ years on a pump maintaining useable infusion sites is a higher priority. It’s been a long time since I’ve been on the forum so I’m sure there are others with more recent experience.
@Siri I have been having problems with pod/site failures so I have been experimenting with trying to alleviate that problem. I love my pump/omnipod and really want to keep using it. I like to use Afrezza for a lot of my bolusing, but sometimes it plays games with my system so I have to back off how much I use it. So I am using MDI shots of Humalog for any larger bolus dosing.
Mannkind/Afrezza has coupons you can use for a months supply. Really pretty reasonable. And more insurance companies are covering Afrezza now, I get a 3 months supply, 9 boxes for $100. All of Afrezza hits faster and leaves your system faster. The only thing is, I have to remember to give another smaller dose of insulin later when I use it. The length of time that Humalog totally hits turns out is kind of useful for some of the slower absorbing food.
@Marie20:
I´m not sure if I understand you correctly:
Are you using Lyumjev in your pods?
And MDI shots of Humalog for large boluses?
And Afrezza when your body allows you too?
That sounds like a really, really good combo and one I would have loved to try, but unfortunately I´m like @Paytone.
Lyumjev causes too much harm to my tissue even though I put on a new pod every 24th hour. Fiasp does some of the same damage and for me it sort of stopped working. So I´m stuck with Humalog which luckily does not affect my tissue. I keep my pods on for 48 hours just to be safe. I could stretch it to 72 hours, but I like to be on the safe side. Usable infusion sites is my priority.
Affrezza is not on the market where I live and will never be I think. So…Afrezza in a pump with no harm to my tissue,- is that too much to ask for Christmas?
@Siri I use Humalog in my pump, but I give the same Humalog in a shot when I do a large bolus. The shots can also be given in more areas. The shots work well, but larger boluses in my pump seem to cause my pod/site to fail. I seem to also have more of a problem with certain lots of pods.
Afrezza can’t be found easily outside the US, although some manage to get it by mail. But it’s an inhaled insulin from a smaller company.
Fiasp did not work for me at all. With the second shot it hardly worked and by the third it was like taking water. Weird how our systems can react differently to things.

As I understand @Paytone he answered this Dec´22. Some of what he writes is:
“I used Luymjev for a few months in the “before times”. It was a short test because I had site issues.”
I´m on the other hand back for a second try on Lyumjev/Omnipod since 17th of January. Three months of Humalog and I was just exhausted. No marks, bruises or anything so my tissue handles Humalog well, but I got this strange constant tremble in my body and sneaky highs and lows. Humalog lasts 5,5 hours for me and that messes with life™️.
Second time around Lyumjev works. No bruises, lumps or marks. To make it work and avoid scarring I put on a new pod every 24 hours and need to put the pod where I´ve got enough fat. The strange trembling is gone, blood sugars behave and life is not exhausting 24/7. Lyumjev lasts 3,5 hours (duration of insulin) and is potent enough to manage the spike 45 minutes after a meal. It simply works.
a new pod every 24 hours sounds bad, have you considered lyumjev 200? I’ve been using it since 5/22 and usually lasts 3 to 3.3 days, as i occasionally will use a pen to bolus high carb meals(and loop suspend for 2 hours), the settings will need to be adjusted, and one box is only 2 pens or 1200units, so you need to stay on top of your pharmacy/drs and make sure you receive enough…but hopefully that way you’ll be closer to 2 days per pod…just an option
Thank you for thinking about me and taking time to give me advice which I luckily no longer need.
Since I wrote the post I´ve moved on to Tandem Control IQ. I still use Lyumjev but use steel cannulas and that makes all the difference to me. Lyumjev is no longer any issue and works really well.
Two days has always been the longest I can wear the same infusionset no matter what pump I´ve used and that´s fine with me. With steel cannulas I´ve chosen to go only 24 hours, but I switch out only a small part of the set with the steel cannula itself to avoid building up scar tissue. It´s no big deal and gives me piece of mind. The part I switch looks like this.
