Lack of Motivation

Hehehehehe, Tim. At least you didn’t get the Viking Berserker syndrome (Explosive rage syndrome in DSM). https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/intermittent-explosive-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20373921

My Norwegian neighbor used to always joke that I had that because I am Finnish. I think he totally believed it was true. He was a speed skater from Detroit and I know he got in way more fights than me (Detroit is a rough town). He quit skating after he saw someone’s head get split open by an ice skate when they all crashed. I think he had some head injuries from skating and/or from getting in fights in Detroit.

Once we were driving somewhere together and I think I threw a cupcake out the window at a neighboring vehicle that pissed me off. He always called me a Berserker after that. It was worse because I’m a skier. He was always saying that I was built to fight Russians on skis. My family got kicked off their land during the Winter war. If your not from Minnesota, these jokes prob don’t make any sense. But, if you like WW2 history, its a pretty interesting war. There’s a good movie about it here. But, here’s the short version:

Thank you. I’ve happened to stumble accidentally on motivational videos and as silly as I thought they were they do get you going!

I think about this video a lot. Give me another idea besides a space ship. I’ve always been a bit non-interested in it unless I was loaded down with a huge ship like the ones on The Mandelorian. This small condo however doesn’t cut it.

I’m loosing my will for quarantine now that I got first vacc. Haven’t you gotten it yet? Our State opened up to everyone, you can’t be THAT far behind us, are you?

This is sad but I’ve been so busy I didn’t know things changed with the vaccine? I would be quarantined nonetheless because I’m so time consumed with my online masters program. :cold_sweat:

Losangeles has opened up indoor dining.
At work we can have 2 people in an elevator
We can have 10 people in a Starbucks instead of 5
Supermarkets seem to be back to normal no more one way aisles or hash marks on the floor.
I mean somethings are returning to normal

Tim, did you see India? I’ve been listening to BBC before bed and I don’t see how this thing doesn’t mutate into another nightmare. What Is The "Double Mutant" Covid Strain Government Says Is In India - YouTube

How do you see this mutate into another nightmare? Virus mutations will always occur and I think we should consider ourselves lucky that these mutations will be more prevalent in large densely packed populations such as India that has roughly 4 times the US population. The earlier mutations are identified, the earlier the labs can tweak their vaccines to deal with them. My Asia headquarters are in Cochin, Kerala and I have affiliates in Delhi as well and nobody there are worried about mutations.

India realizes that the emphasis has to be to get vaccine shots into the arms of the entire, or near entire, population as quickly as possible as that will both resolve this pandemic long term and reduce the number of new potential mutations, variants and strains at the same time.

An eye is being kept on all mutations, variants and strains worldwide but I have not seen any evidence that mutations in India are the cause of any real concern or nightmare at this time. Starting next week, all individuals over the age of 18 will be eligible for the vaccine in India and with India having the largest vaccine manufacturing capabilities in the world I think the world will be impressed at how fast India can get this virus under control. Until recently, a lot of the vaccine manufactured in India has been exported to other countries putting their population in peril so it is high time they now take care of their own.

Virus mutates from every person it infects. The virus replicates and it offspring are shed for the next victim. Only the successful babies will survive the transfer.

The reason we see different strains is because sometimes these mutations become advantageous to the virus and leads to the mutated virus to be more successful. The mutations that don’t help are unsuccessful and die off.

So in a tightly packed population, you could have a mutation that spreads and another that spreads within taht same spread causing a double mutation.

It doesn’t necessarily make it more dangerous to us. Sometimes it is but sometimes it isn’t.
Common colds are so successful because they don’t kill their host, and they mutate quickly.
We could see covid become less harmful like that.

The only real danger to mutations is if the mutation is not recognized by our vaccinated immune systems.
If that happens we will need to start over with vaccines.

However like influenza if we keep adjusting the vaccine to keep up with strains, we can contain it more effectively. And prevent it from killing us.

All viruses mutate we need to accept this reality.

Thanks for the reassurance, CJ. I hope your right.

I feel like in a very short period of time this virus has really improved on itself. I’m talking to A LOT of people who aren’t bothering to vaccinate. I feel like virus is playing a strong game compared to us. We are kinda weak players. Virus is virus-ing like a champ. I’m kinda imagining this as a limited hiatus until virus makes us look like a bunch of chumps.

I hope your right and I’m wrong.

I did. It looks like most have been vaccinated there as well. I’m wondering when/if that will bleed out to other countries.
