that ones even worse!

I have no doubt that some peoples D is harder or easier to control, I was thinking more in terms of which is worse to have. Is it better to be T2 and controlled with oral meds or be T2 on insulin. Do T1s have a more severe and damaging D or do T2 have it different but just as bad or good depending on how you look at it.

One can be easily controlled and suffer from the same complications as the so call "Brittle diabetics".

So how can we say someone has a worse kind of diabetes. It's all bad in my eyes. We are all in the same boat as far as I'm concerned.

I just don't get this...

How many people are really walking around separating us from the rest of humanity by our "insulin dependence".

How do they even know that you ARE a diabetic and insulin dependent, or what your exact need for control is??

I never have these terms come up unless I am here or another forum, or at the doctor. I don't walk around talking about diabetes. I also don't walk around talking about the conditions others have and ask them to define theirs.

Words do have power, sometimes it's best to keep them to yourself so you don't invite discussion that might cause you a reaction.

I am in real trouble as English is my second language ...I must admit it's No big deal for me !

Juvenile diabetes (unless it refers to my mental state at the age I was diagnosed with T1, the term is just wrong), insulin dependent (what then is a T2 that uses insulin for better management but still is producing insulin), brittle diabetic, the bad diabetes(used to refer to T1–does that mean T2 the good diabetes by default). The thing that makes me go ballistic is when I tell people I have T1 and their response is – oh then you didn’t cause it - I blame media for fostering the notion that people with type 2 caused their Diabetes.

Hi, DNS. I certainly did not mean to hurt your feelings. Sorry if I did.

I really don't know that there's any phrase used in the medical community or diabetic community that ISN'T annoying to me.

Having said that, I just used two of them. No way around it I guess.

Not in the least! I asked for a conversation about how language influences our thoughts and actions, and that's exactly what we have. Don't give it another thought. :)
