Latest Labs

I just got my latest labs faxed to me.

Glucose: 63.9
C-peptide: 4.6
Triglyceride: 53.6 (range: 35-150)
Cholesterol: 154 (range: 130-200)
HDL: 58.2 (range: 40-72)
LDL: 85.1 (range: 60-100)
Fructosamine: 236.2 (range: 197-300)

I think this is the first time in the 4 years I've been seeing him that he didn't do an A1c. I think he forgot. He did remember to do a fructosamine (average BG of three weeks), which was the same as it's been for a while.

I know that my c-peptide is high, especially for a low blood sugar (how did that happen? I hadn't been low in forever and I'm low THEN??)But even after eating the most "unhealthy" diet (of mostly cholesterol) that I've ever eaten for four months, my cholesterol is the same as it was before. With that and no other signs of metabolic syndrome, I'm still a little confused.

Until this summer, my c-peptide never went above 3, and it was usually in the 2's. All of a sudden I saw this huge spike in it; in August it was 7.3 (up from 3 in May), and in October it was 9.6.

Is there some type of diabetes I've never heard of that causes a high c-peptide but isn't insulin resistance? I know that there are some T2's who have no signs of metabolic syndrome, but isn't that more rare than not?

It isn't so much that I'm looking for a way out of the diagnosis of IR, it's that I have so little "evidence" for IR and some even that suggests it could be something else.

Anyone?
